It was an amazing three days! Teams were composed of anglers from Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, & Canada. Over 75 sharks were caught by 64 anglers. In the first day of the tournament anglers caught 9 sharks that were over 8ft; 8 of the 9 were over 300lbs and 2 of the 9 were over 400lbs! This includes a triple-header of big bull sharks! A total of 11 sharks were caught that were over 8ft. The largest blacktips were both over 150lbs and larger than any previous blacktip caught in the tournament. Researchers from Nova Southeastern University and St. Mary's Hospital worked together with the anglers during the tournament in an effort to enhance the medical treatment of shark attack victims. Another excellent tournament by Josh Jorgenson with a record number of anglers and teams from the many different states that made the trek to the East coast of Florida to compete.Congratulations to ALL THE ANGLERS who took part in this tournament you helped make it a success. All the anglers who took part in this tournament contributed in upholding the sport of land-based shark fishing and you also helped with the valuble research of sharks by tagging the many different species that were caught in the three day event.
On a personal note I want to congratulate Josh for his dedication to the sport and his hard work to bring us a tournament we can all be proud to say we participated in. I know how much work it takes to make such a tournament go off without a glitch and I know Josh is an exceptional young man with enough passion,a clear vision and the relentless drive to make such an event a reality. Many will stride to become great shark fishermen and recieve praise for great catches but few will give tirelessly to the sport expecting nothing in return as Josh does. The sport we all enjoy so much is better because of Josh Jorgenson. Thanks to all the anglers who participated, and thank you Josh for your DEDICATION.
